How to Start a Workout on Your Apple Watch

This guide will show you how to start, customize, and track a workout directly from the Gentler Streak app on your Apple Watch. Tracking from your watch provides real-time feedback and allows you to stay focused without needing your iPhone.

Starting a Workout

  1. Open the Gentler Streak app on your Apple Watch.
  2. From the daily message screen, swipe down or scroll with the Digital Crown to the Start a Workout screen.
  3. You will see your most recently used workout types. Tap on any of them to begin the workout immediately.

  1. If your desired activity is not listed, tap the + icon to see the full list of over 140 workout types.
  2. Scroll through the list and select the workout you want to start.

During Your Workout

  1. Once your workout starts, you will see your live metrics, such as heart rate, duration, and activity-specific data like distance or speed.
  2. To change a metric displayed on the screen, long-press the metric you wish to replace and select a new one from the list.
  3. Scroll down with the Digital Crown to view graphs of your heart rate and elevation over time.

  2. Swipe left to access the controls screen. From here, you can Pause the workout, Lock the screen to prevent accidental taps (especially for water-based activities), or Hold to End the workout.
