Why Diets Fire Back

A diet usually refers to a regulated intake of a specific group of foods. Diets as weight loss programs don’t work and eventually take their toll on our health.

We usually turn to diets to lose weight or when having health-related issues. In those vulnerable times, diets may seem appealing as they carry a promise of better me.

Most diets are overly restrictive and only effective in losing weight if calorie intake is deficient.

That burns fat and causes losing precious muscle tissue since the body can’t afford to feed it on a caloric deficit. Our metabolism slows down, and there is a drop in burned calories for essential vital functions per day (basal metabolic rate).

If there were more muscle tissue, it would burn calories efficiently. In effect, when we go for a "cheat meal" or return to previous nutrition habits, we gain weight faster than we would otherwise.

To manage body weight sustainably, try making small but lasting changes to your eating habits.

Try figuring a customized meal plan based on the preferences that have the potential to stick with you.

Observe yourself and write down the biggest traps you fall into during the day (snacks, soft drinks, ...). Try to understand the reasoning behind them and address them one by one wholesomely. And stay active while doing so.
