Exercising During Period

Women are cyclical by nature. Therefore, it is essential to take that cyclicality into account and try adapting our lives to it.

It may not be possible in all areas, but a workout routine is something we control. So let’s learn to be kinder to ourselves and approach our overall health with more care and responsibility.

The menstrual cycle consists of four different phases: bleeding, follicular phase, ovulation, and luteal phase.

The bleeding lasts for 2 to 7 days. In that time, we lose about 50 ml of relatively fresh red blood.

The first day of the cycle is considered to be the first day of heavier bleeding. We have less energy, tend to be more physically passive, turning our attention inwards.

It’s ok to spend this time in peace and quiet. You can use it for self-reflection and pinpointing or even trying to let go of the habits that don’t serve you anymore.

Many of us experience painful menstruation. It is vital to listen to ourselves and adjust the exercise to current needs and capabilities. If you feel like doing nothing, do nothing! Now, rest is as essential as being active on days full of energy.
